Jake Saucedo is the Class of 2019’s Class President from Smyrna, Tennessee. He graduated in 2011 from Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and enlisted less than a year later. He was deployed to Bagram Air Field as a Tactical Security Airman from April through December 2013. The following year he received an appointment to the Air Force Academy’s Preparatory School where he served as the Cadet Candidate Group Commander, where he led more than 200 of his peers for half of the year. Jake came to the Academy to gain the privilege of one day saving lives in the Combat Search and Rescue Field, becoming a better person, and becoming a better leader for his airmen. In his off-time, Jake enjoys fishing, playing, coaching and umpiring baseball, driving down country roads in his truck and is also a movie buff. Jake is a declared Economics major and aspires to be a HH-60 Pavehawk pilot where he can fly for Pedro; members who specialize in Combat Search and Rescue and Casualty Evacuation.
Ryan McKenna is the Class of 2019’s Vice President from Deptford, New Jersey. He graduated in 2011 from Deptford Township High School in New Jersey and enlisted in
October 2011 as an F-16 jet engine mechanic in the NJ Air National Guard. He attended two years of college at New Jersey Institute of Technology as a mechanical engineering major. In 2014, Ryan received his appointment to the USAFA Preparatory School where he had the privilege to serve as the first ever group academic officer. In this leadership position, Ryan managed to help his prep school class graduate with the highest GPA in recorded history. Second semester he served as a Squadron Commander for Bravo Squadron, responsible in leading approximately 75 of his peers. He came to the Academy to become the best possible leader and officer and has dreams of one day leading Airmen in what he considers the best organization in the world. Ryan has declared a double major in Economics and Management and is working towards a pilot slot to hopefully one day return to the F-16, only this time flying rather than maintaining. In his off time Ryan enjoys flying, working out, playing baseball as a member of USAFA’s new club baseball team, and traveling/exploring new places.
Jericho Simmons, the Class of 2019’s Vice President, was born on 12 August 1995 in Panama City, Panama. A notable achievement of his is creating a library catalog for the National Museum of WWII Aviation. He went to Discovery Canyon Campus high school. He received an appointment to the Air Force Academy Preparatory School in 2014 and began his journey towards becoming an Air Force officer with the full intention to serve and lead, as well as to be challenged. Jericho is a Business Management Major and wants to go into Space Operations when he commissions. He enjoys working out, dancing, training for track, hanging out with friends and going on new adventures.
Ketanny Alves is the Class of 2019’s Class Secretary and was born 13 August 1997 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She attended Elizabeth High School and graduated in 2015. She accepted her appointment to the Academy where she would be able to pursue an education as well as serve her country post graduation. Ketanny is a Political Science major and is pursuing a minor in Portuguese. She aspires to become a Pilot or work with the Office of Special Investigations (OSI). She is a member of the Academy’s Hispanic Heritage Club, plays on the women’s club Lacrosse team, and is part of our Student Government. She enjoys reading, sleeping, working out and giving back to the community by volunteering whenever the opportunity presents itself. Ketanny also received Dean’s pin her first semester at the Academy.
Caston Casey is the Class of 2019’s Class Treasurer and was born 19 July 1996 in Seguin, Texas. He graduated from Seguin High School and attended one year of college at Texas Lutheran University. As Class Treasurer he hopes to give the Class of 2019 the most memorable events in the Academy’s history. He takes immense pride in being a leading role model to his nine siblings and by correctly matching his clothes despite his color-blindness. Caston has not declared a major yet but is leaning towards a Legal Studies degree. In his free time he likes to watch Netflix and Basketball; especially the Spurs. Caston came to the Academy not only for the impressive education benefits but mainly because he is proving to someone that he could make it. As of now, he is unsure of what job he wants as an officer but he only wishes not to get Missiles.
John Bowes is the Class of 2019’s Exemplar Cadet-in-Charge. He was born 2 August 1997 in San Antonio, Texas. In high school, he was the Class of 2015’s valedictorian, was the Citadel Leadership School Wing Commander, and an Eagle Scout. During his first semester at the Academy he attained the Dean’s and Commandant’s pins.. His hobbies include fly fishing, hiking, and procrastinating. John is a declared Management major with a minor in Portuguese. He is an aspiring pilot and came to the Academy to serve, get a good education and to fly.
